The 2017 Cartier Horse Of The Year, Enable, has catapulted herself to the head of this season's standings thanks to her dominant success in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks.

The John Gosden-trained five-year-old overtook four rivals in the standings following her tenth Group 1 success last Thursday and now sits on 128 points with Magical (120), who finished second to her at York, now her closest pursuer.

The Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in October looks likely to be the star filly's next assignment as she bids to become just the third horse – after Frankel (2011, 2012) and Ouija Board (2004, 2006) – to win the award's premier accolade for a second time.

In the sprint category, Battaash's (80) track record-breaking performance in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes pushes him up to joint-second place alongside Commonwealth Cup winner Advertise, but both still trail retired Royal Ascot hero Blue Point by 26 points.

Another million-pound performance at York means 2018 Cartier Stayer Stradivarius (112) has hardened his position atop the standings and now leads old adversary Dee Ex Bee (64) by a seemingly unassailable 48 points.

Bjorn Nielsen's five-year-old also now sits joint-third in the Horse Of The Year standings along with the retired stablemate Too Darn Hot and Juddmonte International runner-up Crystal Ocean.

Japan (108), who bettered Crystal Ocean in a pulsating clash at York, now looks best-placed to claim the Cartier Three-Year-Old Colt award after moving into second place with just Too Darn Hot ahead of him.

After his Phoenix Stakes victory, Siskin (48) leads the Cartier Two-Year-Old Colt standings, with unbeaten Prix Morny winner Earthlight (40) currently occupying the runner-up position.
