Don Poli: could run at Fairyhouse on Saturday
Don Poli: could run at Fairyhouse on Saturday

Don Poli, who was ruled out of the Randox Health Grand National because of owner Michael O'Leary's disagreement with Phil Smith's handicapping of the the eight-year-old, along with Outlander and Empire Of Dirt, is among ten entries for the Grade 3 At The Races Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse on Saturday.

Placed at Grade 1 level on his last two starts – runner-up in the Lexus Chase in December and third behind Sizing John in the Irish Gold Cup earlier this month – Don Poli is being aimed at the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup in which he finished third last year.

His trainer Gordon Elliott said yesterday: "He came out of his Leopardstown race well and I'm certainly not against running him in the Bobbyjo, but I'll talk to Michael and Eddie [O'Leary] and see what they want to do."

Gigginstown also have Wounded Warrior, Thunder And Roses and Roi Des Francs, entered for the 3m1f Fairyhouse event.

Elliott has made 17 entries for Sunday's festival trials meeting including progressive hurdler Mick Jazz, a winner at Punchestown on his most recent start and who is entered for the Sky Bet Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham.

He is among the entries for Grade 2 Paddy Power Novice Hurdle on Sunday along with Any Second Now who is trained by Ted Walsh for J P McManus.

Although not entered for any races at the festival, he will be one of the more interesting horses on show at Naas when he will bid to make it three from three over hurdles in the Grade 2 novice.

Walsh said: "Any Second Now is in good form. Sunday's race has been the plan since he won at Punchestown last time and the galloping track will suit."
