Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer Eddie Harty is set to break new ground with his son Patrick this year with the pair expected to be the first joint licence-holders in Ireland.

There have been a number of hugely successful joint training operations in Australia, while Paul and Oliver Cole became the first partnership to have a winner in Britain last June soon after the arrangement was authorised by the BHA.

Curragh-based Harty, best known for his handling of 2008 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner Captain Cee Bee, expects his son’s name to be added to the training licence officially in the first half of the year.
