The Dikler will soon be getting ready for Christmas and will be mindful of the need to check what percentage of so-called charity Christmas cards actually go to worthy causes.

Hopefully it will be a more impressive figure than the amount raised for Racing Welfare and Retraining of Racehorses from the auction of the snazzy new silks organised by the BHA recently.

The six funky designs fetched £33,000, of which a paltry five per cent, or £1,650, was split between those two worthy charities. The ghost of Scrooge still roams the corridors of High Holborn, it would seem.
