Dettori returns on Thursday as six star fillies line up for Nassau test

Frankie Dettori: back in the saddle on Thursday
1 of 1

Frankie Dettori will return to action at Glorious Goodwood on Thursday with four rides, headlined by Veracious in the Group 1 Qatar Nassau Stakes.

The star rider was forced to miss the first two days of the meeting after incurring a ten-day suspension (reduced to six on appeal) for careless riding at Newmarket's July meeting and will be eager to make up for lost time.

His first ride back comes in the Group 2 Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes when teaming up with Precious Ramotswe for John Gosden.

He will then be hoping for a third Qatar Richmond Stakes victory in the last four seasons when riding the Richard Hannon-trained Neverland Rock in the juvenile Group 2.

Coronation Stakes third Veracious is Dettori's Nassau ride and the filly will be facing some tough rivals, including Pretty Polly winner Urban Fox, who is bidding for a second consecutive Group 1 for William Haggas and is two from two under Danny Tudhope, who retains the mount having partnered her at the Curragh.

Surprise 1,000 Guineas winner Billesdon Brook, Oaks and Ribblesdale runner-up Wild Illusion and Lockinge winner Rhododendron also line up, with Wilamina completing the field for Martyn Meade.

Dettori's final ride of the afternoon comes in the 7f maiden in which he is aboard well-bred Frankel newcomer Mehdaayih for Gosden.
