Lambourn trainer Clive Cox is celebrating reaching a career-best total of winners for a year and believes the future is bright for his Beechdown Stables operation.

The victory of Silca Mistress at Lingfield on Wednesday ensured it was a landmark year for Cox with 66 winners, before Tamerlane’s Kempton success on Friday took the tally to 67.

Cox started training in 1990, with his first winner – Good For The Roses – his last victory as a jockey, and his previous best total of 65 winners had come in 2016.
