Racing has lost one of its greatest friends following the death of Dan Abbott on Monday at the age of 83.

Abbott was co-founder of the Lambourn Trainers Association with Peter Walwyn in 1989 and was also famous for the bespoke racing albums he produced for owners, breeders, trainers and jockeys.

His cottage industry under Peregrine Advertising, which he set up in 1981, brought him into contact with most of the top names in racing.
