Death of Kevin Prendergast's wife Lesley at the age of 87

Lesley Prendergast, wife of the legendary trainer Kevin and aunt to fellow trainer Patrick, died aged 87 on Thursday.

Patrick Prendergast said: "Lesley was a lady, and she was a lovely lady. All of the family are very sad. She did a lot of charity work, especially for CARE and for disabled riding.

"She was in a bad car crash in Dubai many years ago and she's been in ill health for the past few years but she wore it with grace. Lesley was a huge support to Kevin and we all feel very bad for Kevin as they were a very close couple."

Prendergast is survived by Kevin and daughters Andrea, Penny, Louise, Anne, Norma, Amanda and Natasha.

She will repose at McWey's Funeral Home, Abbeyview, Kildare Town from 4pm on Sunday and Monday with prayers both nights at 7pm.

Removal will be on Tuesday morning at 10.30 to arrive at the Carmelites church, Kildare Town for requiem mass at 11am.
