Comparisons with the mighty Frankel were perhaps inevitable after Arrogate produced an astonishing performance to win the $10 million Dubai World Cup at Meydan over the weekend.

Before the race, the four-year-old's trainer Bob Baffert had even described his stable star - officially rated the world's best horse - as a 'dirt version of Frankel', after his victories in the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Santa Anita last year and the world’s richest race, the $12m Pegasus World Cup in January.

But after Arrogate’s spectacular last-to-first victory in the desert, the Hall of Fame handler had a different species on his mind for his pride and joy after witnessing the jaw-dropping victory.
