Silvestre de Sousa: odds-on for the title after six winners in two days at Epsom

The even-money available yesterday morning about Silvestre de Sousa retaining his jockeys' championship crown disappeared after the title leader rode a double at Epsom to take his tally at that track to six winners in two days.

De Sousa followed a 245-1 four-timer on Monday with a 13-1 double, from three rides, and was last night a best-priced 10-11 to retain his title.

However, Jim Crowley – who briefly headed De Sousa over the weekend – did not lose any ground after riding two winners himself at Goodwood to salvage a score-draw from the day. But Crowley was eased to a best-priced 11-10 to land a first title, having started the day no bigger than evens.
