De Sousa draws level with Crowley after Chelmsford double

The battle between Silvestre De Sousa and Jim Crowley continued on Thursday, with the reigning champion drawing level on 91 wins after notching a double at Chelmsford, in reply to Crowley's winner earlier in the day.

Crowley scored aboard Maldonado in the opening seven furlong maiden stakes at Epsom to extend his lead to two over De Sousa.

However, De Sousa, who overcame an incident at the start of the 3.40 at Doncaster when Spiritual Lady kicked out at him, was passed fit and flew south winning the first two of his five rides on Salamah and Free Bounty in the 6.10 and 6.40 at Chelmsford.
