The Queen is set to have her first King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes runner since 1978 after her colt Dartmouth was supplemented into the Ascot field at a cost of £75,000 on Monday.

The colt was the only addition among the ten entries at the five-day stage after connections of Eclipse winner Hawkbill decided to wait for next month's Juddmonte International at York.

Dartmouth will be a rare runner in the contest for the Queen, a move that brings "a great dynamic to the race" according to her racing manager John Warren. The Roger Varian-trained Postponed is the 1-2 marketleader for the race, with Dartmouth installed as a best-priced 6-1 second favourite.
