Prized Icon skipped away with Australia's oldest Classic on Saturday for a trainer whose family history is interwoven with that of Flemington racecourse.

The late Bart Cummings, nicknamed the Cups King, was the grandfather of Prized Icon's trainer James Cummings, and Prized Icon's victory under Glyn Schofield means four generations of the Cummings clan have now got their hands on the Victoria Derby trophy.

Favourite Sacred Elixir loomed up seemingly full of running but could not live with the late turn of foot of Prized Icon, who caused some interference as he hung left en route to a second Group 1 win.
