Cromwell looking forward to taking the wraps off Jer's Girl
The exciting Gavin Cromwell-trained Jer’s Girl is likely to get her season under way this weekend at Naas or Navan.
The JP McManus-owned four-year-old has the option of the Grade 3 Fishery Lane Hurdle at Naas on Saturday, but Cromwell revealed he is marginally leaning towards running his stable star in the Grade 2 Lismullen Hurdle at Navan on Sunday.
“The rain is falling, so hopefully we'll get our ground this weekend and she can start off,” Cromwell said.
“I'm not entirely sure which race we'll run in, but the penalties are not as severe for her in the Lismullen Hurdle. She has to carry a 7lb penalty for her Grade 1 win but gets a 3lb allowance in the Lismullen as she's a second-season novice.
“Nothing is for definite yet, but I'm happy the rain is falling and I can’t wait to get her out.”
If Jer’s Girl does tackle the Lismullen Hurdle, she may face her stiffest opposition in the shape of the Willie Mullins-trained Shaneshill.
Gordon Elliott has entered De Plotting Shed, new recruit to the stable Dedigout, Taglietelle, Ucello Conti and Noble Endeavor.
One of the most eyecatching entries for the weekend is 2014 Racing Post Arkle Chase winner Un De Sceaux, who could start his season in the Grade 2 Fortria Chase at Navan on Sunday.
Un De Sceaux's trainer Mullins has also entered Ballycasey, while Elliott has entered Gigginstown duo Tell Us More and The Game Changer, along with Cause Of Causes.
