The chief executive of the National Horseracing College has hailed the staff and students who continue to keep the show on the road despite major restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Stephen Padgett revealed the college, which trains young people for a career in the racing industry, has lost 20 per cent of its revenue and has had to furlough more than half of its 47 members of staff, with managers also accepting a 20 per cent pay reduction.

The NHC continues to deliver tuition to students, the majority of whom have opted to remain in residential accommodation on the college's campus near Doncaster during the nationwide lockdown.
