Glorious uncertainty is making for potentially tough times at Goodwood

Goodwood has not given up hope of admitting spectators for its Glorious meeting and it has admitted it would be a huge blow to have to stage the meeting behind closed doors.

Racegoers will not be allowed at Royal Ascot in June and Goodwood sport managing director Adam Waterworth fears that may also be the case for his track's flagship summer festival, which is due to run from July 28 to August 1.

"I have the odd phone call when I manage to convince myself that it will be business as normal and we'll have the best Glorious meeting ever as we'll be the first meeting back and it will be amazing," he said.
