Confirmed runners and riders for the King George Qatar Stakes on Friday
Rags-to-riches sprinter Raasel will face ten rivals when he bids to continue his remarkable progress in the King George Qatar Stakes at Goodwood (3.35) on Friday.
The five-year-old, who was bought for just 10,000gns in 2020, made it eight wins from his last ten starts when landing the Group 3 Coral Charge at Sandown four weeks ago.
Now trainer Mick Appleby and owners The Horse Watchers step him up to Group 2 company at Goodwood, where victory would take his earnings past £325,000.
Sandown runner-up Mitbaahy is among his opponents again and Charlie Hills runs Equilateral in a race he won four years running from 2017 to 2020 with Battaash.
Nigel Tinkler runs 200-1 King's Stand Stakes third Acklam Express and said: "We've prepared him specifically for this race.
"He didn't know his odds at Ascot and we were very pleased with that result. I don't think it was a fluke," the trainer added in "Straight From The Stable in the Racing Post Weekender."

Hendrix makes Golden Mile cut
Leading fancy Jimi Hendrix has just sneaked into the field for the Coral Golden Mile (3.00).
He looked an obvious contender for one of the biggest betting races of the meeting when winning at Newmarket last time and was the final horse to make the cut for the £150,000 handicap, which has a safety limit of 20.
But he has been given a disadvantageous draw in 21, in a race that has been not been won by a horse starting from a double-figure stall since 2013.
Shining Blue (20) and Montassib (16) are also drawn out wide but ante-post favourite Noble Dynasty will be in stall three, which has housed three of the last five winners.
The going at Goodwood was officially described as good, good to firm in places on Wednesday morning.
