Confirmed runners and riders for frost-threatened Clarence House Chase at Ascot

Energumene, Edwardstone and Amarillo Sky have been declared for Saturday's frost-threatened LK Bennett Clarence House Chase (3.35) at Ascot.

The meeting is in major doubt and faces an inspection at 4pm on Thursday due to frozen ground but the big guns are intended runners in the Grade 1 feature should it go ahead.

Energumene, trained by Willie Mullins, finished second to Shishkin in this race last year and takes on Arkle winner Edwardstone for the first time. The Alan King-trained chaser unseated his rider in the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton last month.

The Joe Tizzard-trained Amarillo Sky, a winner of two handicap chases this season, completes the line-up and faces a stiff task on ratings.

Ga Law, Dusart, Allmankind and Demachine are among 13 declarations for the 2m5f handicap chase (3.00) on the undercard, while Molly Ollys Wishes and Indefatigable head seven runners in the Grade 2 mares' hurdle (2.25) over 2m7½f.

Epatante and I Like To Move It are among six runners in the New One Unibet Hurdle (2.05) at Haydock, the track's Champion Hurdle trial. The Merseyside track faces an inspection at midday on Friday due to frost and snow.

First Street, a stablemate of Epatante, was not declared for the Grade 2 and the Charlie Longsdon-trained Rare Edition will not contest the Supreme Trial (1.30) at Haydock.

Bristol De Mai heads six runners in the Peter Marsh Chase (2.40), a race he won in 2017. His rivals include Blaklion, Fontaine Collonges and Empire Steel.

Frodon headlines Taunton's card on Saturday, which is subject to an inspection at 8am on raceday. He has four to beat in the feature Portman Cup (3.17) – Cape Gentleman, Ramses de Teillee, The Wolf and Quick Wave.
