Chemical Charge has to settle for another Listed second

Ralph Beckett: "Air Pilot continues to run at a top level and I think he will go well, and Dolphin Vista should be competitive."

Chemical Charge had to settle for a fifth consecutive second in the Listed Prix Max Sicard at Toulouse on Sunday.

The four-year-old, owned by Qatar Racing, was beaten two lengths by 16-1 outsider Satanicjim in the 1m4f contest in south-western France, finishing a length and a half clear of third home Holdthasigreen.

Trainer Ralph Beckett said: "I think he probably ran his race and his jockey Gregory Benoist felt he ran his race, but he prefers better ground than that – certainly his action suggests that."

Chemical Charge won twice for Beckett as a juvenile before having a year off after being injured.

He moved to Ireland, where he finished second three times, including in a Group 3 at the Curragh when trained by Ger Lyons, before returning to Beckett to run second to one-time St Leger entry Crimean Tatar at Kempton.
