Cheltenham Festival tips: Wednesday's best bets from Racing Post experts
Day two of the Cheltenham Festival is upon us – but who do our top tipsters fancy most?
Tiger Roll
By Paul Kealy
Race: Glenfarclas Chase (4.10 Cheltenham)
Odds: 13-8
The Cross Country race isn't really my cup of tea, but it certainly is Tiger Roll's and the legendary dual Grand National winner can close his career on a massive high.
He hasn't shown much in two runs this season, but he comes alive on this track and he'd be better class than most of these on anywhere near his best cross country form, let alone his two National wins. A fourth success in this race, and sixth at the festival overall, beckons.
L'Homme Presse
By Tom Segal
Race: Brown Advisory Novices' Chase (2.10 Cheltenham)
Odds: 7-2
He's barely put a hoof wrong for Venetia Williams this season and I think he will improve again for the step up to three miles. Of course this is the toughest task he's faced, but I would be mighty surprised if he wasn't up to it and I think he will like this track more than his two main form dangers Ahoy Senor and Bravemansgame.
Saint Felicien
By Robbie Wilders
Race: Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle (2.50 Cheltenham)
Odds: 6-1
Saint Felicien is deeply unexposed and ran a cracker when second in the Limestone Lad Hurdle on just his second start for the yard. The five-year-old was poorly suited by the conditions of that contest, the 1m7½f trip was sharp enough and the ground was quicker than anything he'd experienced.
He still managed to finish ahead of experienced and classy campaigners Whiskey Sour, Petit Mouchoir and Felix Desjy, giving the trio 4lb. He put up an RPR of 153 there and gets in off 149 for his handicap debut. With winning form over 2m1½f on very soft ground at Auteuil, I'm not overly concerned by the 2m5f trip on good to soft. He can only improve.
Beacon Edge
By Justin O'Hanlon
Race: Brown Advisory Novices' Chase (2.10 Cheltenham)
Odds: 12-1
It is a potentially lucrative day for Irish-trained horses on Wednesday when there will be a few of each-way value, and no horse fits that bill better than Beacon Edge.
A solid fourth in last season's Stayers Hurdle, he has yet to scale those heights over fences, but he was a brave winner of the Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse in November before suffering a narrow defeat to Farouk D'Alene in the Grade 2 Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan. As a general 12-1 shot, he represents value.
