Cheltenham course punter shares in festival Placepot joy with £96,266 payout
After three days of fancied horses winning, the final day of the festival provided plenty of shocks – Foxhunter winner Pacha Du Polder among them – in the process producing a punchy Placepot dividend.
The £900,410 pool was shared by just 28 units and the dividend paid a cool £32,088.70.
There were seven winners on course at Cheltenham, including Patricia Ryall from Doncaster, who placed a £3 straight line and took home £96,266.10.
She has been going to Cheltenham for 18 years and asked if this was her biggest win replied: “Biggest win? It’s my only win!"
Ryall added: “We usually come down Wednesday to Saturday, but decided to just come down for the one day this year.
“I picked the horses myself and can’t believe it, I feel sick. I’m going to let it sink in and enjoy it.”
Another winner on course was John Crean, who headed up a five-strong syndicate from Sutton Coldfield and celebrated a £64,177.40 windfall.
Totepool spokesman Matt Hulmes said: “Congratulations to our big Placepot winners.
"It was some feat to pick six placed horses with the surprise results, but that’s why it’s the most popular bet in horseracing.”
