Gosden's Champion Stakes hope to have racecourse gallop

Last year's Irish Derby winner Jack Hobbs is set to return to the racecourse at Kempton on Wednesday afternoon, where he is scheduled to exercise before racing at around 5pm.

The four-year-old son of Halling, who finished runner-up to John Gosden-trained stablemate Golden Horn in last season's Investec Derby at Epsom, has been absent since sustaining a pelvic injury on his seasonal return in the Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket in April.

Jack Hobbs, who is set to be partnered by William Buick in his public workout, is being aimed towards a comeback in the Group 1 Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot next month, for which he is a general 14-1 chance and as big as 16-1 with Betway.
