Beware Chalk Pit was crowned 2016 Supreme Champion at the Retraining of Racehorses National Championship at Aintree on Sunday, beating off the likes of reigning champion Jack The Giant, Forpadydeplasterer and Lord Gyllene to take the overall title.

A star-studded field, including Olympic competitor Summon Up Theblood, competed in the Elite Series Final, which was made up of the winners of national qualifiers and the victors of the prestige classes held earlier in the show.

The biggest cheer of all over the four days came when Monet’s Garden and rider Jo Richards, daughter of the grey’s former trainer Nicky Richards, collected first prize in the RoR veteran final.
