Business costs force Keevil to hand in training licence

Caroline Keevil will hand in her training licence at the end of the month, citing the prohibitive costs of running a small yard.

The Dorset-based trainer saddled her last winner, La Madonnina, at Uttoxeter in May, while the same horse also proved to be her final runner at Bangor last month.

Keevil plan to move yards and return to the pointing ranks and said: "I'll be giving up my licence at the end of the month to go and train some pointers. It's impossible to make it work if you haven't got the numbers, and through no fault of our own we had an unfortunate time last year, losing a horse at Newbury, then a few others had career-ending injuries, and Bally Legend retired.
