Broken wrist forces Probert to miss Star Sprint Cup ride

David Probert will miss out on riding Dancing Star in the Group 1 Sprint Cup after he suffered a dislocated and broken wrist in a fall after the line in the concluding 5½f handicap at Chester on Saturday.

Probert has ridden the improving Dancing Star on all five starts this season but will not be fit in time for the Haydock feature on Saturday week.

"It's not good news really," the rider said. "I've dislocated and broken my wrist. I'm not quite sure if I will need to have an operation yet and I have to go back to the orthopaedic [doctor] this week to check to see how it is healing. As soon as it starts healing I imagine it might be four to six weeks [before I return].
