Nick Scholfield is hoping to be fit to renew his partnership with stunning Cheltenham winner Sky Pirate next month after being forced to watch from the sidelines as he recovers from a broken leg.

The Grade 1 winning-jockey is well on the mend after a double fracture sustained in a freak accident at Fontwell on November 6 but will miss the busy Christmas period having originally hoped to return before the end of the year.

After crossing the line in fourth on Shintori in a handicap chase, Scholfield was smashed into by the riderless Go Steady and immediately taken to hospital, where the extent of the injury was revealed.
