British racing cancelled for Her Majesty the Queen's funeral
There will be no racing staged in Britain on the day of the Queen's funeral on Monday, September 19.
Fixtures on the day will be cancelled, with further information to be shared in the coming days. Racing will take place as scheduled in the period prior to the funeral.
On Saturday, King Charles III was officially proclaimed Monarch before a special meeting of the Privy Council, during which it was confirmed that the day of the Queen’s funeral will be a public holiday.
The funeral will take place at 11am at Westminster Abbey, after which a Committal Service will take place in St George's Chapel in Windsor.
In a statement, the BHA said: "This will give everyone involved in British racing the opportunity to mourn Her Late Majesty’s passing and offer thanks for her contribution to our sport and the nation."
British racing was abandoned on Thursday following the announcement of the death of the Queen, with Friday's fixtures also cancelled as a mark of respect.
That cancellation extended to Saturday's racing, where Doncaster was set to host the final Classic of the British season, the St Leger. The oldest of the Classics, it is a race that Dunfermline won in the Silver Jubilee year of 1977, perhaps the most memorable of the Queen's winners.
A revised programme for Sunday's racing was subsequently announced by the BHA, with a nine-race card at Doncaster including the St Leger as well as the Flying Childers and Doncaster Cup from Friday's cancelled card.
There will also be racing at Chepstow on Sunday, but Musselburgh's fixture will not go ahead as a show of respect with the Queen's body lying in rest in Edinburgh.
