Britbet and the Alizeti Group are understood to be close to signing a deal that would bring the two projects planning to operate pool betting on British racing together under the banner of the Tote.

An announcement that the two sides have joined forces could follow within days if the 55 courses aligned with Britbet are happy with the progress of negotiations when they are discussed next week.

Britbet planned to launch their own operation when the Tote's seven-year exclusive licence to run pool betting on British racing expired in July.
