Wimbledon Hawkeye on course for 2,000 Guineas rematch with Field Of Gold - but Derby still the main aim

James Owen is looking forward to running Wimbledon Hawkeye in the Betfred 2,000 Guineas on May 3 but insists the Derby remains the number one target for this week's Craven Stakes runner-up.

Owned by the Gredley family, Wimbledon Hawkeye landed the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes at two and returned to the track with a solid effort when second to Guineas favourite Field Of Gold at Newmarket on Wednesday.

Owen has no qualms about Wimbledon Hawkeye renewing rivalry with Field Of Gold over a mile in the Guineas but is adamant a greater test of stamina will ultimately see the son of Kameko to best effect.
