'Whoever beats him will know they've had a race' - Charlie Appleby's globetrotter Rebel's Romance set for star-studded King George
Charlie Appleby has promised that Godolphin's globetrotting star Rebel's Romance will not "lie down easily" when he takes on some high-class younger rivals and attempts to secure his first British Group 1 in next week's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (4.10).
The seven-year-old has won more than £10 million in prize-money in a career spanning six seasons, winning 18 times from 26 starts, with seven of those victories coming at the highest level.
In that time, Rebel's Romance has clocked up the air miles, winning the Breeders' Cup Turf twice, the Dubai Sheema Classic, the Champions & Chater Cup in Hong Kong, as well as three Group 1s in Germany since he scored on his debut at Newcastle in 2020.
