Trainer to shut down Newmarket yard and relaunch in Midlands next year 'without taking any horses or staff with me'

Dual-purpose trainer Ben Brookhouse is to make the bold move of shutting down his Newmarket operation at the end of next month and take a year out before relaunching his career from a yard in Warwickshire.

The 32-year-old, who is a former assistant to Ian Williams, first took out a licence at the end of 2022 to train out of Willie Musson’s Saville House Stables in central Newmarket. He has trained 59 winners on the Flat and over jumps, including Brechin Castle in a Listed bumper at Cheltenham in November 2023.  

The son of well-known jumps owner Roger Brookhouse has now decided to put his career on hold and relocate to the more familiar surroundings of the family-owned Moor Hall Farm Stables near Stratford, which he plans to refurbish.
