Jim Crowley will be crowned Stobart Champion Jockey for the first time on Saturday but Friday marks a special anniversary for the former jumps rider, who ten years ago to the day rode his first big winner on the Flat.

In the Jockey Club Cup at Newmarket, the race coincidentally later converted into the Long Distance Cup on Champions Day, he partnered the Rod Millman-trained Hawridge Prince to a third successive victory, this time by six lengths over the Ryan Moore-ridden Bulwark.

It was Crowley's first Group win on the Flat and followed his first graded winner over jumps in Britain on Ungaro earlier the same year.
