Shadwell continue ‘streamlining of UK operations’ with partial lease of stud to rising bloodstock force

A rising force in British bloodstock has expanded its bloodstock interests into the headquarters of Hamdan Al Maktoum’s racing and breeding enterprise in a sign of further consolidation at Shadwell.

Ace Stud, which stands the stallions of Yuesheng Zhang’s Yulong Investments, has taken on the foaling unit at Nunnery Stud in Thetford, near Newmarket, on a lease basis, with its expanding broodmare band set to take up residence at the property.

The Nunnery was purchased by Sheikh Hamdan in 1986 and served as a centrepoint of his empire, housing both his stallions and broodmares, with Shadwell continuing to use the property for administrative functions after the lease. The nearby Shadwell Estate, bought two years earlier, was repurposed to provide facilities for rest, recuperation and pre-training.
