Ryan Moore's son and apprentice jockey Toby facing spell on sidelines after suffering fractured collarbone in Chelmsford fall

Ryan Moore returned from injury at Lingfield on Wednesday but his apprentice son Toby is sidelined until March after suffering a fractured collarbone in a fall at Chelmsford last week.
The injury, sustained after being unshipped from Ballybaymoonshiner, takes between six and eight weeks to recover from, but the young rider will not return until March, his agent Tony Hind revealed.
Rather than head to Dubai this winter, Moore had planned to ride on the all-weather before a possible crack at the apprentice title in 2026.

After beginning his career in October, the 17-year-old jockey has made a bright start with three winners, including two for his employer Charlie Appleby, who he joined as an apprentice last spring. He got off the mark in the Godolphin blue on Valdorcia at Kempton on October 29.
That success meant he emulated his father, uncles Jamie and Josh – who were Grade 1-winning jockeys over jumps – and aunt Hayley to extend the Moore family dynasty.

After following up in the same blue colours on Castle Rock at Newmarket two days later, Moore has since ridden for 15 different trainers to widen his experience, including winning an apprentice race on the Ian Williams-trained Naughty Niall at Wolverhampton last month.
