As Hereford reopens today after four years there is no change to the situation at one-time sister track Folkestone where the chances of racing returning to Kent remain remote.

Folkestone held its last race meeting in December 2012 after Shepway District Council withdrew its support for Arena Racing Company's plans to build 800 homes, which would have helped fund improved facilities at the loss-making track and make it more viable.

While the stand remains the racecourse has been occupied by constructors who are working on a new lorry park being developed adjacent to the M20.
