'It's been overwhelming' - Richard Hughes reflects on a weekend to remember and plots Group 1 targets for star sprinting fillies

Richard Hughes said he had been overwhelmed by the reaction to his Group 1 breakthrough as a trainer in the July Cup, and that he is priming his two star sprinting fillies for more top-level targets.

Hughes, a three-time champion Flat jockey in Britain, became only the second individual to win the July Cup as a rider and trainer after 66-1 shot No Half Measures came home in front at Newmarket on Saturday for owner Richard Gallagher.

The victory of No Half Measures came a day after the trainer had won the Group 3 Summer Stakes at York with the Jaber Abdullah-owned Sayidah Dariyan, setting up the prospect of Hughes being able to claim further Group 1 honours in the months ahead, with the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes a potential option for her.
