On-course bookmakers on Wednesday described the potential for an on-the-day disqualification for whip overuse as "a terrible headache".

The whip review stated it is the intention for raceday stewards to make a decision over disqualification for jockeys who go over the whip count by four or more – a move that on-course operators believe will "invite trouble".

On-course bookmaker Cliff Emery stood one of 21 pitches at Uttoxeter's afternoon card and was critical of the proposed disqualification rule and the overall consistency around stewarding.
