In-person Lesters awards ceremony to return in December
The awards ceremony for the Lesters will return after a six-year absence with the honours to the year's top jockeys to be distributed at an event at Newbury racecourse on December 22.
The black-tie event will be hosted by ITV Racing's Luke Harvey and Adele Mulrennan, with prizes including Flat, Jump, Apprentice and Conditional jockey of the year, as well as ride of the year and recognition awards for both codes.
It is the first time the Lesters event, organised by the Professional Jockeys Association (PJA), has been hosted at a venue since 2018, while it has the sponsorship of World Pool for the first time.
The ceremony has never been staged at Newbury in its 30-year history, and guests will enjoy a three-course meal, drinks reception and entertainment. The PJA selected December 22 so it can act as a Christmas party for its members, with no racing to take place the following day.
PJA chief executive Paul Struthers said: “The Lesters is a very special event celebrating the achievements of our talented and dedicated jockeys.
"We're particularly delighted to be hosting this year’s event in association with World Pool for the very first time and are very grateful for their sponsorship of the Flat Jockey of the Year award."
Tickets cost £200 per person, or tables of ten can be purchased for £1,900, and demand is expected to be high due to it being the first Lesters open to the public in six years.
Bookings can be made via the PJA website or by calling the association on 01635 778108.
