Impressive Adonis Hurdle winner who 'looks like a Gold Cup horse' set to bypass Cheltenham in favour of Grade 1 target

Ben Pauling looks likely to resist the temptation of running Mambonumberfive, an impressive winner of Saturday's Adonis Juvenile Hurdle, at next month's Cheltenham Festival and target Grade 1 company at Aintree's Grand National meeting instead.

Pauling took Saturday's card at Kempton by storm, with Mambonumberfive the first leg of a 211-1 treble for the yard, making it 11 winners from the trainer's last 22 runners as he gears up for the spring festivals. 

"The last week to ten days is the first time this season when I've actually felt that they're flying," said Pauling. "We've had a very good season but sometimes they hit a purple patch and I feel we're just entering that. It would be marvellous if we could hold on to that for the next month to six weeks.
