Epsom trainer George Baker to become surprise new 'star' of reality show Made In Chelsea

George Baker will be able to add another achievement to his glittering career after being involved in an episode of reality TV show Made In Chelsea.

The Royal Ascot-winning trainer was joined by members of the long-standing E4 series at his Downs House stables in Epsom as part of National Racehorse Week.

Series 30 of the show is set to begin on September 15 and Baker joked about having a "starring role" after an episode was filmed at his yard last week.

He said: "I got a walk-on part, which is not something I expected, but I’ll be using it a lot on my CV going forward – a starring role in Made In Chelsea!

"I’m not a complete expert on how the show works, but it was unscripted and there were four cast members and several crew members, and hopefully they had a happy morning walking around the yard."

The episode featuring Baker and his base is expected to air during the autumn and the trainer hopes it can give a new target audience perfect insight into how a racing yard operates on a day-to-day basis.

He said: "One of the reasons they came was because they were invited by Great British Racing to help promote the sport. Hopefully with National Racehorse Week going on in the background it can enhance even more awareness of the sport because it’s crucial right now.

"If, in a small way, a cameo role in the show can show people how we run the stables and how amazing the horses are, and how they’re looked after, then it can only be a good thing."

The episode of Made In Chelsea was filmed on the second of two days that Baker opened his yard to the public during National Racehorse Week. 

He added: "It’s a fantastic event and this was a fun add-on for us. It might show people who know nothing about racing that the horses are well looked after. It might pique a bit of interest and who knows, there might be a new racegoer or two coming out of it."
