'I might as well make the most of it' - Indian riding star to stay in Britain for extra month after Shergar Cup-winning exploits

Fresh from the "absolutely fabulous" experience of leading Asia to Shergar Cup success, Suraj Narredu revealed on Sunday that he planned to ride in Britain for the next four weeks.
The leading Indian jockey, who has ridden nearly 2,500 winners in his home nation, could have his next mounts on Friday.
Narredu won on just his second ride in Britain when he landed the Shergar Cup Stayers at Ascot on Fireblade.
Rather than heading straight home, he is staying in the country and said: "My visa allows me to ride for 30 day. I've come so far, I might as well stay and try to explore.
"I'll be based in Newmarket and will primarily ride out for Marco Botti and see if I can pick up rides from other stables as well.
"There's nothing hot happening in India just now, the season is a bit slow, so I might as well make the most of it."
Simon Dodds will be booking mounts for Narredu, who is keen to ride on a wide variety of courses before his visa expires.

"I've no idea who I'll ride. I'll speak to my agent who'll book my mounts, but a winner on any track would be good," he said. "It will be my first time and it will be special.
"I'll try to ride as much as I can at as many tracks as I can because it's all going to be great experience, and I'm here to experience all that I can.
"We follow British racing at home, all the big races are shown on TV or the internet. I don't know how big or small the tracks are but, if you've got a good ride, if you've got a chance, then why not have a go?"
Narredu, who has won four Indian Derbys, showed his joy at becoming the first Indian to ride a winner at the Shergar Cup by performing a flying dismount – for the first time – in tribute to Frankie Dettori.
His effort was voted ride of the day and he added: "It was an absolutely fabulous day. It was like a dream come true. I couldn't be happier. I came in 2009 as a spectator to watch my uncle and it had always been a dream to ride at Ascot; it's a dream for every jockey."
It was the second notable sporting triumph of the week for India, five days after Mohammed Siraj's five-wicket haul secured victory over England in a nail-biting final Test match of the series.
Narredu is a big cricket fan and said: "Siraj took the last wicket at the Oval and Suraj did it at Ascot – just the difference of one letter!"
