'I don't rate them at all!' - Tom Segal nails his colours to one side in a Coral-Eclipse clash of the generations

Tom Segal has nailed his colours to the mast and believes it won't be a member of the Classic generation who wins Saturday's Coral-Eclipse (3.35).

Segal doesn't think the form of the three-year-olds, whose charge is led by Derby disappointment Delacroix, is up to scratch and has it as a shootout between Prince of Wales's Stakes hero Ombudsman and French raider Sosie.

Speaking on the Racing Post's In The Know YouTube show on Friday night, Segal said: "I'd be surprised if Ruling Court, Camille Pissarro, Hotazhell or Delacroix won. I don't think the three-year-olds are very good at all.

"It's a shootout between the top two and I'm quite surprised at the price of Sosie. It's the perception, which might be right, that he won't like it, but if ever there was a fast ground pedigree, he's got it. Every time he's run with good in the going description he's won.

"I actively think he wants fast ground. I think it will come down to tactics and if he's behind Ombudsman turning in, he's got no chance. If he's in front, it'll be hard to pick him up, because Sandown will suit him perfectly. I hope Maxime's [Guyon, rider of Sosie] watching this thinking he'll take the bull by the horns!"

More key insight from In The Know

I thought he's obvious. He was fifth in the King Charles III and only horse in the first eight drawn in a single-figure stall and likes a strong pace to get at. I would say he's very much the one to beat
Paul Kealy cannot see past Kerdos in the Coral Charge

He's really solid. He's got a very, very good chance. That form at York two starts ago couldn't have worked out any better – we all know what Merchant did. How he didn't win at Doncaster last time I don't know. He's a seriously progressive stayer that's got everything going for him
Tom Segal is keen on Many Men's chance in the 1m6f handicap at Haydock (2.05)

He's getting towards a short enough price, but he's taken off over the last six months and couldn't do anymore. He had one blip at Newcastle but massively improved since then. He's another middle-distance horse Andrew Balding will get the best out of
Keals is sticking to Plage De Havre in the Old Borough Cup

It looked like he was being readied for a big handicap first-time and he has to be feared. It could be straightforward and he could be considerably better than the others. I haven't backed him, but it wouldn't be remotely surprising if he hacks up
He's also with Classic in the Coral Challenge, but speaks on his fears of Treasure Time
