Among the leading hopes is a lightly raced five-year-old who was beaten 59 lengths in a bumper last time out.

Winning pointer Danny Kirwan came over from Ireland this time last year with a big reputation and hacked up on his debut in a Kempton bumper but was bitterly disappointing in the Grade 2 at Aintree.

"Five months on and I’m still kicking myself for having run him," said Paul Nicholls.
