'He's absolutely A1' - Broadway Boy camp still optimistic after Grand National fall but future racing career uncertain

Broadway Boy is "out of the doldrums" after his heavy fall in the Grand National but joint-trainer Willy Twiston-Davies is still unsure whether he will be able to race again.
A stable favourite of the Twiston-Davies yard, Broadway Boy had led the 34-runner National field for much of the way before coming down at Valentine’s Brook on the second circuit.
The seven-year-old sustained a heavy fall and there was a lengthy wait at Aintree before news came through that he was one of two horses to walk onto the ambulance for further assessment. The other, Celebre D'Allen, died a few days later from a post-race infection.
Broadway Boy was looked after at the track overnight before he was able to return back to his stable just outside of Cheltenham the following day. He required 24-hour care by the Twiston-Davies team and is continuing to recover well almost three months on.

"He’s good and he’s at home," Twiston-Davies said. “He's not turned out too often but he goes out in the field; he’s very happy and looks good. He’s out of the doldrums, he’s fine and trots up sound.
"Whether he'll run again is another question and only time will tell. We’ll only run if the vets are 100 per cent happy. At the moment the vet comes once a week and he's happy so we’re in good spirits.
“He’s absolutely A1, he comes in at night and goes out for a bit in the day. He’s happy, healthy and eating well and we’re thrilled to see it."
Broadway Boy, who runs in the colours of David Proos, is a six-time winner for connections, with three of those recorded at Cheltenham.
He was a dream National runner for his owner, 35 years on from Rinus finishing third in the race in 1990 in the same silks.
