Classic-winning owners who increased fortune to £9.45bn among racing figures on Sunday Times Rich List
The Reuben brothers, Kirsten Rausing and the Coates family among others to feature in the top 20

Anthony and Carole Bamford were among the racing figures to feature in the Sunday Times Rich List, showing a £1.8 billion increase in their fortune to £9.45bn.
The Classic-winning owners, who are 15th in the Rich List, made racing history last year when purchasing German Derby-winner Palladium for €1.4 million to go hurdling with Nicky Henderson, the most expensive horse bought at auction for jumping.
The four-year-old was purchased for a tilt at the Triumph Hurdle, a race sponsored by the Bamford’s construction machinery behemoth JCB, but has since been moved to John and Thady Gosden after one outing over hurdles.
Once again, David and Simon Reuben, the owners of racecourse group Arena Racing Company (Arc), are the wealthiest British-based figures with a connection to horseracing, according to the Rich List published on Friday.
The brothers, who derive their wealth from property and the internet, are second in the Rich List with a fortune of £26.873bn, an advance of £1.896bn from last year.
Kirsten Rausing, the owner of Lanwades Stud, and her brother Jorn, experienced a £120m fall in their combined wealth to £12.514bn to put them 11th on the list. Ben Keswick, the owner of Rockcliffe Stud, is worth £3.466bn after £1.034bn was wiped from his fortune in the last 12 months. He is 46th on the Rich List.
The owners of bet365 and Betfred both increased their wealth significantly over the last year.
The Coates family’s fortune grew by £1.978bn to £9.445bn putting them 16th on the list. Reports emerged this month that the family is considering selling bet365, which has been valued at up to £9bn. Will Roseff, a bet365 shareholder and racehorse owner, increased his wealth by £142m to £579m (254th on list).

Fred and Peter Done, the owners of Betfred, which sponsors all five Classics in Britain, are worth £2.915bn, up by £535m in the last year, putting them 57th on the list.
A number of owners increased their wealth in the last year, notably the King, who now has a greater fortune than his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, ever had at £640m (238). The monarch's bloodstock portfolio was valued at £27m by the Sunday Times.
Among the other owners who feature on the Rich List are Baron Howard de Walden (£3.244bn, 49); Georg von Opel (£2.083bn, 78); Peter Harris (£1.791bn, 94); David Sullivan (£1.118bn, 143); Patricia Thompson (£874m; 185); Robert Kirkland (£828m, 193), the owner of Grey Dawning, Michael Tabor (£800m, 199); Tony Bloom (£721m, 213); Robert Barnett (£647m, 237); Lord Lloyd-Webber (£500m, 273); Andy Bell (£490m; 280); and Sir John Timpson (£400m, 312).
John Cotton, whose yellow and blue hooped colours are regularly seen over jumps in Britain, is a new entry into the Rich List with a fortune of £375m (330).
The Rich List also features Brian and Luke Comer (£930m, 171), Tattersalls director Andrew Russell (£884m, 181), who is the Duke of Bedford, and Paul Day (£700m, 220), who sponsors the Turners Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
Property developers Ian and Richard Livingstone, who are investors in Evolution Gaming, lost £561m in the last year to leave their fortune at £5.732bn (35), whereas Pokerstars co-founder Mark Scheinberg and Playtech founder Teddy Sagi increased their wealth to £5.081bn (38) and £5bn (39) respectively. Ruth Parasol, the founder of Party Gaming, and her family are worth £780m (214), the same as in 2023 and 2024.
