No favourite has obliged in four runnings of this, but punters may be hoping Under The Stars can stop the rot after her fourth in a Group 2 on the Rowley Mile recently.

On a mark of 105, the James Tate-trained filly is 9lb clear of anything else in the 28-strong line up, but these cavalry charges are never that straightforward.

Before her credible effort behind the classy Daahyeh in the Rockfel Stakes over 7f last time, Under The Stars showed she was just as effective at this trip when landing the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot in July.

The daughter of Night Of Thunder subsequently ran some good races in defeat, notably when a close fifth in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh.

Tate said: "Under The Stars has come out of the Rockfel in flying form - bucking and very well. I am glad to see some rain as obviously she won her big race, the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes, on good to soft ground. This is a good race with a valuable prize to the winner. We are looking forward to it. "

Lambeth to walk it?

Lambeth Walk sports the famous Qatar Racing colours and is second-highest rated in the line up following her fourth in the Group 2 Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes on the neighbouring July course in the summer.

The daughter of Charm Spirit should handle the similar undulations of the Rowley Mile but bids to bounce back from a modest effort in a Listed contest at Ayr two weeks ago.

David Redvers, racing manager to the owners, said: "Lambeth Walk ran a bit flat last time and there was a question mark whether she was in season. If she returns to the form of her previous second in a Listed race at Ripon she should be bang there."

Millman has Hope

At just £3,000, Bettys Hope is one of the cheapest purchases in the line up and knows all about these races having won Newbury's Super Sprint in July.

Since then, the three-time winner finished behind Lambeth Walk at Ripon, but trainer Rod Millman is hopeful of a good run.

He said: "If Under The Stars turns up in the same form that she did there last week we're all playing for places but we turned over one of Richard Fahey's with a similar profile at Newbury. It's a nice pot to go for and hopefully we can get a piece of it."

What they say

Karl Burke, trainer of No Mercy and Solemn Pledge
No Mercy has been running well but he has still to produce on the track what he shows us on the gallops at home. Solemn Pledge won a small nursery at Redcar last week. She could blow her handicap mark by finishing third or fourth here, but there's good prize-money on offer.

Michael Bell, trainer of Bushtucker Trial
He's been laid out for the race and was in good form on Warren Hill this morning, but the penalty he picks up for winning a Class 3 at Beverley last time makes things tricky.

William Jarvis, trainer of One Night Stand and Uncle Sid
One Night Stand ran a race full of promise when second at Yarmouth last time and he could be a live outsider. Uncle Sid has a bit to find but hopefully he can pick up some prize-money.

Richard Fahey, trainer of Trevie Fountain and Bond's Boy
On form, Trevie Fountain is up against it here and has been a little disappointing but it's a £150,000 race and the owner is keen to have a go, which I completely understandable. I was very pleased with Bond's Boy when he won on his debut at Redcar and all you can do is beat what's put in front of you. This is more competitive but he's a big type who's going to make up into a nice horse one day.

Jonathan Portman, trainer of Mild Illusion
It was probably a mistake to run her last Saturday instead of keeping her fresh for this, but she's back to her preferred trip. If she hadn't had to carry a penalty, she'd have 8st 2lb, which would have made it easier, but hopefully she can get in the money.

Charlie McBride, trainer of Intimate Moment
It was a last-minute decision to declare her as she coughed earlier in the week but hopefully that is behind her. If she does run she's quite a nice filly and will like the ground.
