The chair of the troubled IT redevelopment joint venture Racing Digital has left his position citing the collective failure of the BHA and Weatherbys to complete a project for which costs have already spiralled to £5.9 million.
Chris Batterham, 70, wrote in a letter to the Racing Post that he had “grave concerns” about the ability of the two organisations to “deliver the project this year on time, on budget, and to the desired quality” with the efforts of the Racing Digital team not matched by partners in the joint venture.
In response, Racing Digital, the BHA and Weatherbys said in a statement that they "wholly reject" the claims and that an update was due shortly on steps being put in place "to ensure the delivery of the project" after asking Batterham to step down from the board.
