Celestial King (Havana Grey - Show Stealer colt) being sold at Tattersalls in April for 1.75 million guineas

Celestial King, the Amo Racing-owned and Raphael Freire-trained two-year-old bought for a whopping 1.75 million guineas at last month's Craven breeze-up sale, has been backed into a best-priced 11-10 at Ascot (1.30) – having opened at 9-2 on Friday.

The unraced Havana Grey colt, the mount of David Egan, is out of a dam who won on her two-year-old debut and is well fancied despite taking on the Godolphin-owned, one from one Military Code for the dual Guineas-winning duo of Charlie Appleby and William Buick.

A length-and-a-half winner over five furlongs at Newmarket on his debut last month, Military Code achieved a Racing Post Rating of 86 and sets a high bar as the only horse with racecourse experience in the field.

The Ben Pauling-trained Lanesborough, well fancied at a best-priced 15-2 for Haydock's £80,000 Pertemps Network Swinton Handicap Hurdle (1.35), will not run after being cast in his box.

Our Champ heads the market at 13-2, with Helnwein and Dance And Glance both shortened into 7-1. Anyharminasking comes next at 9-1.

No Retreat, a best-priced 11-1 sixth choice of the bookmakers, will not run in the Schweppes Victoria Cup (2.40), with George Scott withdrawing the fancied four-year-old due to a bruised foot.

Gleneagle Bay and Roi De France are contesting favouritism at 6-1, with Qirat next at 13-2, Ten Pounds at 7-1 and Myal an 8-1 chance. It is 11-1 bar the five.
