Dual Derby winner to join sire Sea The Stars at Aga Khan's Gilltown Stud

Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen have both hailed Harzand's courage after the brilliant dual Derby winner was retired to stand at the Aga Khan's Gilltown Stud on Monday.

In overcoming an 11th hour injury scare to triumph in the Epsom Classic, Harzand had already emulated his exceptional sire Sea The Stars.

Following two below-par outings in the Qipco Irish Champion Stakes and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, the decision not to continue his racing career into a third season - announced in a statement on behalf of the Aga Khan - also echoes that of his sire, whom he will stand alongside at Gilltown for an as yet undisclosed fee.
