Frankie signed saddle and a Kenya safari just some of the lots on offer at Ascot
On Friday Ascot plays host to the 14th annual Property Race Day, a charity event organised by the property and construction industries that has raised £2.7 million.
The 86-table lunch and auction in the pavilion facility at Ascot, which is supported by the Racing Post, raises funds each year for five charities all focused on the wellbeing of children and young people globally.
This year the five charities are LandAid, which tackles the root causes of youth homelessness; WellChild, the national charity for seriously ill children and their families; Trusts for African Schools, a UK charity promoting transparent, sustainable school improvement in poor African schools; the Dusty Yak Foundation, which cares for orphans and neglected, impoverished and/or sick children in need in Nepal; and the United Ukraine Fellowship, which aims to help save lives in Ukraine torn apart by the war.
As well as a live auction on the day for lots such as a box at Windsor, a ten-pound note adorned with the face of Lady Diana by Banksy, Coconut Cottage in Barbados, Frankie Dettori’s signed saddle from Enable’s Yorkshire Oaks win in 2019 and a Goodwood race name, the Taylor Wessing Silent Auction runs until 5.30pm at propertyracedayauction.co.uk.
Successful bidders in the silent auction can buy a four-day Mediterranean sailing trip, a morning on the Lambourn gallops, a set of Mizuno custom-fitted forged irons, a round for three at Beaverbrook Golf Club, a classic wildlife safari trip to Kenya or even drive four supercars in one day among many items and experiences.
The Front Runner is our latest email newsletter available exclusively to Members' Club Ultimate subscribers. Chris Cook, a four-time Racing Reporter of the Year award winner, provides his take on the day's biggest stories and tips for the upcoming racing every morning from Monday to Friday
